Aquila CX-G, Amplified
5 years ago we launched our first ever Gravel-specific model, the Aquila CX-G. Over that time it has become one of our best sellers. It was a platform we offered as a “Swiss Army knife” for those seeking a bike with little boundaries. Equipped with features that allowed riders to be efficient on and off-road. As the gravel scene has snowballed into one of the fastest-growing genres of the cycling world. We felt it was time to up the ante, and launch a new iteration of the CX-G, which is lighter, faster, and more capable than its predecessor…
During this continuous evolution of gravel bikes, there is a strong desire to have a platform that packs more of a performance punch. We have fined tuned the tube shapes of the CX-G frame to provide some aerodynamic properties, implemented full cable integration, reworked the geometry to provide greater agility, and increased the max tire size to 50mm, which allows to further tune the ride of the bike. To cap things off, the new CX-G is now UCI-compliant for those hitting the race start line.
AERODYNAMIC
The new CX-G borrows some of the aerodynamic features we developed for the EVO road model, while still maintaining critical properties for vertical compliance, traction and handling when the riding surface gets rough.
FULL CABLE INTEGRATION
A feature that is more sought after for its aesthetical appearance, fully hidden cables not only provide the clean look, but enhances aerodynamic efficiency.
D-POST
The first generation CX-G utilized a cylindrical 27.2 seatpost, which was light and compliant, but not aero. The new CX-G implements a “D” shaped seat post, that addresses the lack of aero efficiency, while still remaining light an compliant.
To further increase the versatility of the CX-G. Having the broadest range for tire size was near the top of the enhancement check list for the new CX-G. The previous model was capped at 42mm, the new CX-G has increased capacity to 50mm.
Now that the UCI has recognized Gravel racing as an official genre, the flood gates have opened in the number of events and participation, for one of the fastest growing disciplines of bicycle racing. The all new CX-G is now UCI compliant, and ready to race..
